Happy Cat Star Innovations
The Happy Cat Hurricane is a performance sailing boat. Easy to sail with hyper-refined control systems, this boat is both forgiving and fast, even capable of sailing faster than the wind. This sailboat is compact enough to be transported by car or in the bed of a truck and provides performance only previously available via trailer.
1 - Reinforcing Bow Braces: Additional bow braces further rigidize the frame and hulls. The Star hulls do not flex, even in 5’ waves. The Star, albeit more nimble, will feel just like a solid hull boat.
2 - Furling Jib: The jib on a continuous furler can be put away in heavy winds to increase boat stability. The innovative forestay design allows for the jib luff to be super tight for better windward performance.
3 - The convex hull bottom: Improved hull shape over other inflatables imitating composite hull shapes. Wavepiercer bow cuts through the waves. This shape bow maximizes waterline length for faster sailing speeds.
4 - Fully Carbon Fiber: The Star is available with a fully carbon fiber frame. This means that this boat weighs less than your average 10' dinghy but with the rigging suited for a high-performance beach cat!
5 - EPDM Rubber Hull Material: The most durable inflatable hull material in the world!

6 - Centrally Mounted Centerboard and Rudder: This allows the boat to be very responsive and to tack like a performance sailing dinghy!

Portable, Packable, and Race-Ready
The Happy Cat Hurricane inflatable catamaran can be easily stowed away and packed into three bags that are less than 6 feet long. The compact size is perfect for sailors with smaller vehicles, and makes stowing a breeze in an apartment closet, garage or shed. With a setup time of just 30-40 mins, you’ll be flying across the water in no time flat.
Innovative Hull
More buoyancy, increased safety – and smooth sailing with less spray: The convex hull bottom reduces resistance at the bow and stern, and the modern Wavepiercer bow cuts through the waves. You will be the fastest sailor on the water!
The hulls have been developed and optimized through tank testing and the boat-skin is hand made from tough Grabner rubber. Inflatable buoyancy combined with inverted bows make this boat almost impossible to pitchpole.
Robust & Lightweight Frame
Custom carbon fiber for the frame basically means the Star is the lightestweight 16' beach cat on the market. You will be hard pressed to find a prettier boat with performance that punches up!
Custom extrusions have eliminated the need for a laced trampoline, further simplifying the rigging process.
Retractable Centerboard
The centerboard on Happy Cat boats is the secret weapon! Look for another beach cat on the market with a centerboard, you won't find it!
A centerboard allows the Hurricane to tack like a dinghy and point higher than many non-foiling beach cats. Because the boat weighs half that of a Hobie 16, flying a hull is not necessary and this boat will plane upwind!
Fast Assembly
No Lacing. A Tilt up mast. All carbon fiber construction.

Adjustable Traveler
The adjustable traveler for the Hurricane allows you to better control the twist in the main. it also allows you to solo sail the boat comfortably in high winds by allowing you to spill winds at the top of the mast without compromising sail trim!
