The Takacat T380LX is the big brother to the T340LX. It is a larger boat with a longer waterline for easier planing and for carrying heavier loads. The Takacat T380LX is the boat of choice for professionals, coaches and families. This boat is the first size that has multiple chambers per tube making the boat safer for trips further offshore. T420LX
The Most Portable 14' Boat
The T420LX is the second largest Takacat LX model. This size uses a larger tube diameter than the other Takacat models which allows it to be more stable when at rest which makes it a fantastic fishing or hunting platform. The longer waterline will allow the boat to get amazing speeds out of small outboards even well suited for electric propulsion or becomes a rocketship when equipped with a 9.9 or 15 horsepower motor! Featuring innovative Takacat advantages such as an open bow, catamaran hull design and the revolutionary Tube Transom®, the T420LX is an amazingly large boat capable of accommodating the whole family for a day trip or hauling enough gear for an extended adventure but portable enough to ride in the trunk of your car!
T460LX
A Portable Craft Like No Other
The T460LX is the largest Takacat LX model. This boat is absolutely massive! This boat can comfortably take 6 adults for a day on the water without any issues with crowding! This boat is just as happy being pushed along with a 9.9 HP outboard as it is with a 20 HP hanging on the back. Capable of reaching speeds well over 20 knots, even when loaded with cargo and passengers, this boat isn't for everyone, but when you need a big boat, the 460LX really fits the bill!

Small and Convenient Storage Footprint
The Takacat LX Series features a removable transom. This means the boat can be easily folded, then rolled like a swiss cake roll so these boats take up the smallest amount of space possible.
Even the largest LX model can fit on the backseat or trunk of nearly any passenger car!
Catamaran Hull Design
The catamaran hull design of the Takacat reduces the wetted surface area of a common inflatable allowing the Takacat to go faster with less horsepower.
- The catamaran design also allows this boat to float in less water as well as be incredibly stable—so stable that you can stand on one side while the boat remains flat in the water!
- Once on plane, these boats will skip from wavetop to wavetop for a comfortable ride, even in choppy waters.
Quick-Drain Open Transom
The open transom does more than make these boats portable, they also allow for instant draining of all water in the boat.
You can launch in the surf and take breaking waves without ever filling the boat with water. Heck, you could park it under a waterfall without it filling with water!
Easy Access Open Bow
The easy access open bow design of the LX series is very unique and has a lot of uses.
- You can easily board the boat from the water, instead of trying to climb over bulbus hulls.
- It makes it very easy and safe to enter and exit the boat when beached and it makes scrubbing the waterline of your larger boat a breeze since standing on the very bow of an LX boat puts the soles of your feet at the waterline.
- Due to the upturned angle of the bows, it does not scoop water when underway.
Single Seam HD Tube Construction
All Takacat LX Series boats have a single seam that runs down each hull. We didn’t stop there, that single seam has a quadruple overlap to prevent leaking and premature wear from frequent folding.
Glued Seams - Better than Welded!
Glued seams are the right choice for this style of boat. Welded seams are easier and less technical way to get an airtight seal, but the process of welding the fabrics together makes the material a bit brittle. Welded seams aren't a worry on RIBs that don’t get deflated, but on a boat like the Takacat that will see frequent folding for storage, this is not advantageous.
Glued seams are also repairable as the seam can be serviced with a heat gun and new glue, welded seams are not serviceable and can only be patched.

The Takacat LX catamaran design means that you need less power to push these boats at the same speeds as flat and v-bottom boats. The realm of portability for outboards is in the 9.9 hp range and under: this is where the Takacat boats thrive. A 9.9 hp can push a Takacat up to 18 mph even with a couple people on board!

I had a small Mercury inflatable for about 10 years, and when I went looking for a replacement, I needed something a little larger and--I hoped--a boat I could row. We usually row out to our moorings on the midcoast of Maine and rarely use an outboard either on the dinghy or the sailboats. The design of the Takacat 260 S;port offered less wetted surface to push through the water and more space for people and gear. The high-pressure inflatable floor was an added bonus: soft and sure under foot and quick to dry, not to mention the convenience of having any rainwater settle below the floor and drain readily from the stern when the bow is lifted. This is our second season, and the "Left Behind" is working out beautifully. We frequently carry an oarsman, two passengers and an 80-pound Golden Retriever, although the boat certainly handles better with a lighter load. Alex handled the delivery from New Zealand to Maryland to Maine without a hitch.

Alex was the reason for buying this latest cat after discussing the improvements made on the light dingy offered by Takacat. Features important to me were the ease of assembly, light weight, mobility with the wheels added and of high importance the ability to board the boat over the bow. The new open design on the stern makes it easier to deflate and bag up the boat. It also makes it easier to hose out the beach sand . The dingy tows like a dream. Its light weight makes securing on the Davits a simple affair. I power it with a Torqeedo electric and a 6 HP gas motor. Range on electric is now extended due to the light weight and less drag on the twin catamaran hull form. Alex can correct me but I think the the boats floor rides higher than my previous cat. For a longer trip I use the 6 hp Gas. As another owner mentioned it rows like a dream. With my dog and and several large water jugs and myself it felt faster rowing than my last Takacat. The floor is robust and dog proof . My dog is partial to being close to the water and approves this purchase. I found Alex to be knowledgeable and a personable individual. Cheers Capt. Ed Wojtecki. Red beard was quick to respond to any questions any vey helpful. The boat is great and we're enjoying using it on our small lake. Climbing on after a swim was difficult (67 years young) but after making a foot stirrup it's been terrific. The floor mat curled up immediately after first use but pvc glue fixed it easily. Great boat.

Everything you promised and more! Our 80 lb Golden Retriever had no problems climbing onto the Takacat and then was able to step onto the pontoons and climb over the side of our sailboat. Thanks to our Takacat, our dog can enjoy the day swimming with us and get back onto our boat without having us lift her. We tell everyone about it. Can't recommend it highly enough! Thanks again!
